Tom Kassekert Fine Art

The work represented on this site exemplifies a portion of the artwork that I've produced over recent years. Most of the paintings and drawings were created from life (painting while viewing an actual scene or model) or from reference material such as photographs or sketches generated from actual scenes. While some of my work is tight, or realistic, I strive to convey a sense of space and light rather than chasing a photorealistic reproduction of the scene.

An artist may spend hours or even days before a scene, connecting with the subject, studying every facet, and choosing which elements to incorporate into the painting. Nature does not always cooperate. It can be an arduous process, but in the end these artistic choices are what gives life to the painting and make it an original work of art.
